Flag Coloring & Flag Making Report – Holy Cross International School, Boisar West

Introduction:
On 1st August 2024, Holy Cross International School, Boisar West, organized a Flag Coloring & Flag Making Activity to encourage students to engage with the national symbols and develop an understanding of the importance of the Indian flag. The event was aimed at fostering creativity, patriotism, and an appreciation for the country’s rich history and values. Students from various grades participated in the activity, showcasing their artistic talents while learning about the significance of the flag.

Objective:
The primary objective of the Flag Coloring & Flag Making activity was to help students learn about the Indian flag’s symbolism, its colors, and their historical significance. Through this activity, students were encouraged to express their creativity while understanding the deeper meaning of the national flag. The activity also aimed to promote a sense of national pride and unity among students.

Event Overview:
The event was held in the school’s Art Room and the outdoor activity area, where students were provided with drawing sheets, colors, and craft materials to create their flags. The activity was divided into two parts:

  1. Flag Coloring – Students were given a template of the Indian national flag to color and decorate, focusing on the correct shades of orange, white, green, and the Ashoka Chakra.
  2. Flag Making – Students were asked to design and create their own mini versions of the Indian flag using craft materials like colored paper, fabric, sticks, and other creative supplies.

Participation and Creativity:

Many students took extra care in ensuring the Ashoka Chakra was placed correctly in the center of the white band, symbolizing the wheel of law and progress.

  • Ashoka Chakra – A 24-spoke wheel representing the eternal wheel of law and righteousness.

Students were also briefed about the historical background of the flag and its evolution over time.

Prize Distribution and Recognition:
At the end of the activity, the students’ work was displayed in a mini exhibition in the school’s common area. The best flags from each grade were selected and awarded certificates and small prizes. Teachers praised the students for their creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm. All participants received a certificate of participation as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

Conclusion:
The Flag Coloring & Flag Making activity on 1st August 2024 was a huge success at Holy Cross International School, Boisar West.
