The Janmashtami celebration at Holy Cross International School, Boisar West, on August 8th, 2024, was a joyous and colorful event that brought together students, teachers, and staff to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna with devotion and enthusiasm.

The festivities began at 9:00 AM with a warm welcome by the school principal, who addressed the gathering, explaining the significance of Janmashtami and the life lessons from Lord Krishna’s teachings, such as compassion, courage, and devotion.

The highlight of the event was a series of performances by the students, which included:

  • Cultural Performances:
    • A group of students from Grades 5 and 6 performed a mesmerizing dance drama depicting key events from Lord Krishna’s life, such as his playful childhood and his role in spreading righteousness.
    • A vibrant “Raas Leela” dance performance by students of Grades 7 and 8 filled the atmosphere with festive cheer.
  • Fancy Dress Competition: The younger students dressed up as little Krishnas and Radhas, charming everyone with their adorable attire and performances.
  • Dahi Handi Celebration: A fun and energetic “Dahi Handi” event was organized where students enthusiastically formed human pyramids to break the clay pot, symbolizing teamwork and unity. The excitement and cheers from the audience added to the festive spirit.
  • Bhajan Singing: The school choir sang soulful bhajans, creating a serene and devotional atmosphere that touched everyone’s hearts.

The program concluded with a thoughtful message from the principal, encouraging students to imbibe the values of Lord Krishna in their lives. She praised the efforts of the students and teachers for making the event a grand success.

The celebrations ended with the distribution of prasad to all students and staff, leaving a sense of joy and positivity among everyone present.
